Ali’s Song.

Summer’s not the same without you, I need to see your smile. I can’t go a day without you, and it’s been a while, I’m not your Ace of Spades.

Dear Anyone That Will Listen,

She’s got lighters on the counter, vodka in the freezer, and music playing that she’s never liked before. Her and everything have changed so drastically, but she’s still the same. We still have our song, but she’s drunker. She still has the same humor, but every laugh is intoxicated with second-hand smoke. She still hates Country, yet it plays loudly through the house that we still don’t belong in. All of it together is my mother. The Happy Mother with a boyfriend, and two visits a week from her children. The Carefree Mother that spends money she doesn’t have, and leaves the porch doors open in the rain. But most importantly, the New Mother, because none of us know who she is.

Love Always,

Anonymous.
